David R. Johnson, 69, of Ozawkie, KS, died March 7, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born October 13, 1945 in Kansas City, MO., son of Victor and Dee (Yount) Johnson. David was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Vietnam era as Crew Chief of the Presidential Helicopter Squadron. He was a Respiratory Therapist at Stormont-Vail Hospital and retired from the Colmery O'Neil VA Hospital in 2010. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. David was a train, model train, airplane and history enthusiast. He married Virginia Gibson on April 15, 1968 in Quantico, VA. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Scott Johnson (Trisha), of Topeka, Paul Johnson, (Nanette), of Ozawkie, Mark Johnson, (Mary Ann) of Lenexa, KS, a sister, Charlotte Shaver of Plattsburg, MO. Nine grandchildren: Lee Michelle, Logan, Laci, Cassandra, Victoria, Draven, Hailey, Landon and Owen also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents. David will lie in state after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Meriden, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A Rosary Service will begin at 6:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow in the St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery.
