Stephen D. Wilson, 61, of Topeka, KS died March 6, 2015 at the House at Midland Care. Steve was born December 1, 1953 in Sabetha, KS the son of Laurel and Betty (Zimmerschied) Wilson. For the past 11 years he was a fleet mechanic for the Auburn/Washburn USD #437. Steve was a 1971 graduate of Central High School in St. Joseph, MO and attended Missouri Western and Emporia State Universities. His favorite past time was riding his motorcycles; he was an active rider in Topeka for the past 42 years. For several years in the 1980's he served as an ABATE District #4 Officer. Later in Steve's life he became interested in riding and restoring vintage motorcycles. Even though Steve would deny it, he loved and cherished his pets. He married Cindy Marie Burkett on October 9, 1995. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Christina M. Forshee and her husband, Ty, of Auburn, KS, a son, Jason R. Gillenwater and his wife, Jenni, of Emporia, KS, a sister, Deana "Dee Dee" Kyle and her husband, Bill, of Wellsville, KS, a brother-in-law, Michael Buck (Carol) of Exeter, NE, an uncle, Roger Mader and his wife, Lynda, of Topeka, and an aunt, Ann Hoffman and her husband Mel, of Sabetha, KS. Eight grandchildren, Lily Forshee, Cassie, Adam, Jayden, Stella, Daniel, Paul, and Joshua Gillenwater, two nephews, Ben Kyle and his wife, Lisa, and Brett Kyle also survive. Family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to S.C.A.R.S., (Second Chance Animal Refuge Society), Midland Care Hospice or Helping Hands Humane Society sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS, 66603.
