Eileen Geraghty, 91, of Topeka, died January 3, 2015 at Aldersgate Village Nursing Home. She was born in Wakefield, Kansas on August 13, 1923 the daughter of Charles P. and Ellen M. (Sherbert) Gates. She attended Wakefield High School and received her RN nursing degree from Christ Hospital School of Nursing in 1945 and was a member of the Alumni. Eileen worked as a Cadet Nurse from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Stormont-Vail Hospital for over 20 years where she was a Charge Nurse. She later did private duty nursing retiring in 1984. She was a member of Mater Dei Holy Name Parish. She was an avid golfer and bowler and was a member of Lake Perry Women's Golf Club and a local bowling league. Eileen lived life to the fullest. Eileen married Philip Gravenstein in Topeka on September 24, 1973 and he preceded her in death on May 9, 1992. She married Wayne Geraghty on November 17, 1995 in Topeka and he died on July 15, 2004. She is survived by a son, Charles E. (Lisa) Cool, a daughter, Linda Salsbury all of Topeka, five grandchildren; Chris (Christine) Salsbury, Tamara (Paul) Jennings, Ben (Melanie) Salsbury, Kelly Cool and Kristin (Raub) Kirkwood , and ten great grandchildren. Eileen will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Monday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:oo p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Highland Cemetery in Wakefield, Kansas.
