Robert Ira "Hoppy" Hopkins, 91, of Topeka, died November 23, 2014 at Oakley Place. He was born on April 18, 1923 in Topeka, Kansas the son of Carl and Lillian (Fieger) Hopkins. Robert was a veteran of the Army Air Corp serving in World War II where he was awarded the Silver Star. He was a clerk for the Santa Fe Railway Company for 44 years and was a member of the National Association of Veteran Railway Employees. Robert enjoyed bicycling and had accumulated over 25,000 miles. He also enjoyed collecting - coins, rocks and stamps, was a Ham Radio Operator and was a WWII Aviation History buff. He was a member of the Catholic faith and attended various churches. He married Ann Marie Herr at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Topeka on May 12, 1947. She preceded him in death on December 7, 2003. He was also predeceased by a daughter Paulette J. Hopkins on January 21, 1952, a brother Orwin Hopkins, and his beloved dog, Jed. Survivors include his son, Larry Hopkins and wife Kay and a brother Bernard C. Hopkins all of Topeka. Robert will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mt.
