Ernest "Ernie" Cramer, 83, of Topeka, died November 2, 2014 at the Colmery O'Neil VA Medical Center. He was born on December 15, 1930 the son of Ernest W. and Ruby M. (Epling) Cramer. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Ernie worked for the Topeka Police Department as a detective and in other capacities from 1957 to 1986, retiring as a Lieutenant. He enjoyed weight lifting and boxing. Ernie married Mary Wade who preceded him in death in 1988. He later married Barbara Creek who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Carol Cramer and Eric Cramer both of Topeka, step sons, Ron (Teresa) Creek of Topeka and Kenneth (Joyce) Creek of Rowlett, TX, five step grandchildren, and numerous step great and great-great grandchildren. Ernie will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Thursday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery.
