Carolyn Lee Riggle, 94, of Topeka, died November 2, 2014 at Rolling Hills Health Center. She was born in rural Thayer, Kansas on September 7, 1920, the daughter of Alfred and Catherine Faye (Douglas) Hastings. She was a 1937 graduate of Thayer High School and a 1939 graduate of Neosho County Community College. Carolyn spent most of her life in Chanute until moving to Topeka in 2001. Carolyn was a homemaker and Income Tax Preparer. She enjoyed quilting. She married Eugene H. Riggle in Parsons, Kansas on April 19, 1945. He predeceased her on April 27, 2002. A brother, Dick Hastings also preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Robert A. (Shari) Riggle of Burllington, Kansas, three daughters, Cathi Sumner of Olathe, Kansas, Connie Shively and Debbie Riggle both of Topeka, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Carolyn will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. where her family will receive friends. Graveside services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Ft. Scott National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, Kansas. A family gathering and luncheon will follow at Lyons Twin Mansion in Ft. Scott.
