Joseph A. Monteith, Jr., 70, of Topeka, Kansas died October 25, 2014 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. He was born in Hopewell, Virginia on August 7, 1944 the son of Joseph and Mary (Huneke) Monteith Sr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1962 to 1969. Joseph was a member of the Catholic faith. He is survived by a brother, Michael and wife Nora of Chattanooga, TN, niece, Nancy and husband Ralph of Knoxville, TN, nephew Andrew and wife Beth of Oklahoma City, OK, a great niece, Maddie and two great nephews, Drew and Mike. Joseph's family will receive friends at Mater Dei Assumption Church after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday where a rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Inurnment will be held later in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Mater Dei Parish and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
