Mary Jacobs, 96, of Topeka, died October 24, 2014 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. She was born on May 19, 1918 in Topeka, the daughter of John and Catherine (Burghart) Kaberline. Mary was a dietician retiring from the Santa Fe Hospital. She was a member of Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Guild, helped with funeral luncheons and was an RCIA sponsor. She married Paul J. Jacobs Sr. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Topeka on October 11, 1938. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1993. Mary was also preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Anderson, a sister, Lydia Porubsky, a brother, George Kaberline, a granddaughter, Leslie Howard and a son-in-law, Guy Howard. She is survived by two sons, Paul Jacobs, Jr., (Diane), William Jacobs, (Barbara) all of Berryton, three daughters, Mary "Cathy" Blattner, (John), Barbara Howard, all of Topeka, Sharon Hartner, (Steve) of Loveland, CO. A son-in-law, Skip Anderson of Topeka, four brothers, John, Ed, Bill and Richard Kaberline and a sister, Patricia Vinning, as well as 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, many great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Mary will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church.
