Erma was born 10/24/1916 in Osage County, KS, the daughter of Walter and Marion (Jones) Peterson. She taught school in Osage City prior to her marriage to Andrew Lawrence Anderson on 6/15/1938. Erma and Andy moved to Topeka, where they owned and operated the Bible Supply and Gift Shop in downtown Topeka. Erma was Andy's right-hand at the Bible Supply, a mother to their three children and a devoted member of the Brookwood Covenant Church, where she sang in the choir and played the organ for many years. She was a member of the Country Quilters, Gideons Auxiliary and the Christian Bookseller's Association. Her passion was sewing and at age 96, she was still making sure each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren had their own personal quilt. Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Andy, in 1983, a brother, Marvin Peterson, and a son-in-law, Harold Classen. She is survived by a son, Ted (Vicki) of Strafford, MO, and two daughters, Judi Classen of Topeka and Rosemary (Stephen) Williams of Tecumseh, a sister, Corinne Edwards of Lebo, KS, sisters-in-law Erna Peterson of Osage City, KS and Virginia Anderson of Topeka. Erma was blessed with 9 grandsons, Daren (Brenda), Kevin (Linda) and Brendan (Carrie) Classen, Kent (Jennie), Mark (Pamela) and Bret (Kelly) Anderson and Daniel (Cyndi), David (Erica) and John (Becky) Williams, and 19 great-grandchildren. Erma will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on 10/14/14 after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on 10/15/14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Brookwood Covenant Church, 3601 SW 33rd St. in Topeka.
