Helen G. Marx, 96, of Topeka, died October 3, 2014 at her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born on October 11, 1917 in St. Mary's, Kansas, the daughter of Claude A. and Catherine (Mainey) Ulrich. Helen graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1935 and lived most of her life in Topeka. She was a member of Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church. Helen was a homemaker and avid sports fan. In her free time, she did volunteer work for Hayden High School and Let's Help. She married Howard W. Marx on June 21, 1937 in St. Mary's, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 26, 1983. A son, Larry Marx also preceded her in death on November 13, 1975. Survivors include a daughter, Judith Marx of Stockton, California and a granddaughter, Cindy Pritchard of Tennessee. Other survivors include several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Hanrahan, Lucille Ulrich, Catherine Pitt, three brothers, Lester "Boots" Ulrich, Leo "Lie" Ulrich, Tom Ulrich and two grandchildren, Robin Nicholson and Todd Finley. Helen will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church.
