Alicia Avila, 39, of Topeka, died August 22, 2014 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. She was born in Winfield, Kansas on May 14, 1975 the daughter of Enrique "Hank" J. and Cynthia (Vance) Avila. Alicia was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, cooking and especially spending time with her children. She is survived by her husband, Elias Solis, two daughters, Elena and Elia Solis of the home, her father, Enrique "Hank" Avila of Berryton, her mother, Cynthia Knighton of Leawood, four sisters, Ashley A. Avila of Topeka, Aimee Bruno of Topeka, Emily Heff of Kansas City, Mo., Lily Huffaker of Leawood, Ks., and a brother, Spencer Huffaker of Leawood, Ks. Alicia will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and a rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Cremation will follow with inurnment at a later date.
