Myrna M. Jarvis, 80, of Topeka, died August 6, 2014 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. She was born March 13, 1934 in Burlingame, Kansas the daughter of Luther Guy and Allie Carolyn (Boucher) Carver. Myrna worked as a housekeeper for Aldersgate Village before retiring in 2006. She enjoyed family gatherings, plants, stuffed animals, jewelry, and was a collector of Fenton Glassware. She loved hand written letters and she always remembered birthdays. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Sherwood Ward, the Women's Group at the Church, and was a librarian for the church for many years. Myrna was married to Jesse Floyd Jarvis on October 25, 1952. He preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by her children David (Meredith) Jarvis of Topeka, Debbie (Matthew) Gehrt of Topeka, Doug (Laverne) Jarvis of McKee, Kentucky, and Dianna Smidt and her fiancé Jerry Keehn of Grand Island, Nebraska, two sisters, Carolyn Wisdom of Wichita, Alice Friend of Burlingame, Kansas, and a brother, Lyle Gale Carver of Topeka, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. Myrna was also preceded in death by a son Donald Gale Jarvis in 2002, and a sister Opal Masters. Myrna will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 8, at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Topeka Cemetery.
