Juanita "Jennie" Hernandez, 91 of Topeka, KS died August 6, 2014 at the House at Midland Care. She was born April 7, 1923 in Topeka the daughter of Refugio and Felicia (Hernandez) Alonzo. Jennie was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She married Pantaleon "Leon" Hernandez, Sr. on March 25, 1939 in Olathe. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1999. Jennie is survived by five sons, Leon Hernandez, Jr., David Hernandez both of Topeka, Raymond Hernandez, Jimmy Hernandez both of Hoyt, Michael Hernandez of Independence, MO, three daughters, Esther Sipes of Eureka Springs, AR, Virginia Tingler of Kearney, MO, Kathleen Moore of Independence, MO a sister, Lydia Dominguez of Topeka. Fifty-nine grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by two sons, Albert and Daniel Hernandez along with two brothers, Jim and Henry Alonzo. Jennie will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:00 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
