Rudolph "Rudy" Alexander Negrete Jr., 82, of Topeka, died July 26, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on February 26, 1932 the son of Rudolph and Natalia (Alonzo) Negrete Sr. Rudy served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from the reserves as an E-6. Rudy served as past Commander of Philip Billard Post 1650 from 1994 to 1995. He worked for the Santa Fe railroad as a carmen, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed fishing, playing softball, reading, sitting on his porch and walking. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Rudy was active in AA, a V.A. volunteer, and a member of Philip Billard Post 1650, and the American Legion. He married Consuelo "Connie" Jimenez in Hillsdale, Michigan on December 1, 1953. She survives. He is also survived by two daughters: Anna Negrete of Topeka, Guadalupe (Jose) Romero of Houston, Texas, two sons: Robert Negrete of Seattle, Washington, and Edward Negrete of Houston, Texas, two brothers: Sylvester Negrete and Daniel Negrete, both of Topeka, five sisters: Angelina Lucero, Maria Delores Perez, Elizabeth Treadwell, Rosemary Villalobos, and Martha Conner, all of Topeka, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Rudy will lie in state at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Tuesday after 4:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends, and a rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by the V.F.W. Philip Billard Post 1650.
