Patricia L. Murrell

Patricia Shortall Murrell, 87, of Topeka, Kansas, died June 25, 2014 at McCrite Plaza. She was born March 24, 1927 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Maurice and Ethelyn (Redd) Riley. Patricia married John J. Shortall, Jr. on July 7, 1949. He preceded her in death on December 21, 1973. She married Tim Murrell on December 4, 1975. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1992. Patricia enjoyed reading, playing tennis, and was active with the Mulvane Art Museum and the Phi Delta Theta Mothers Club. Patricia is survived by her son John Shortall III and his wife Amy, 3 daughters, Janice Andersen of Kansas City, Missouri, Kathy Ward and her husband Mark of Tecumseh, Kansas, and Lisa Shortall of Topeka, Kansas, grandchildren: Taylor Shortall, Sam Shortall, Alexandra Andersen, Mark Ward II, and Paige Ward. A private family graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorial contributions may be made in Patricia's memory to Grace Hospice and sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
