Helen Isabell Johns, 96, of Topeka, died May 22, 2014 at Westwood Manor. She built many friendships during her 38 years of living there. She was born in Topeka, Kansas on December 24, 1917 the daughter of August J. and Mary V. (Wilkinson) Johns. Helen was a graduate of Capitol Catholic High School, attended St. Joseph School of Nursing in Chicago and Washburn University. She worked as an Operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone. Helen was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. She is survived by a brother, Raymond F. Johns of Oskaloosa and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Johns, and three sisters, Rita Johns, Jeanne Guesnier and Patricia Garvert. Helen will lie in state at Mater Dei Holy Name Church on Wednesday after 9:30 a.m. where a rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt.
