Raymond N. Delzeit Jr., 72, of Silver Lake, died May 18, 2014 at The House at Midland Care. He was born September 3, 1941 in Denton, Kansas, the son of Raymond and Betty (Honer) Delzeit. Ray worked as a pumper in the oil fields in south central and north eastern Kansas. He enjoyed working in his shop, the outdoors, and watching Ku basketball, K-State football, and the Kansas City Chiefs. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Raymond married Peggy Sherman on June 16, 1973 in Emporia, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include: two brothers, Bill Delzeit of Horton, Kansas, and Bob Delzeit of Rushville, Missouri, two nieces, Patricia (Ken) Wells of Meriden, and Kimberly (Matt) Dorssom of Lancaster, Kansas, 2 great nieces, Jessica Wells, and Kiley Dorssom, and one great nephew, Jerod Wells and a sister-in-law, Sharon Delzeit. Ray was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Delzeit, his parents, and a sister-in-law, Jeannie Delzeit. Raymond had no children of his own, but his nieces and nephew were very special to him. Raymond will lie in state after 8:00 A.M. Thursday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow in Janesville Township Cemetery in Hamilton, Kansas at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the organization of the donor's choice, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
