Opal Louise Day

Opal Louise Day, 92, of Topeka, died May 1, 2014 at her home. She was born in Topeka, Kansas on January 20, 1922 the daughter of Mose E. and Louise (Murphy) Roberts. She married Edward Day in Topeka. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1995. Opal enjoyed playing Bingo, gardening, and loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Mater Dei Assumption Catholic Church. She is survived by two sons, Edward E. (Linda) Day, and David A. (Shelly) Day, a daughter Linda S. Day, all of Topeka, Kansas. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Howard, Harold, Johnny, Richard, a sister Rose Miller, and a daughter Cheryl Day Campbell on March 24, 1987. Opal will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Monday after 8:00 a.m. where the family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt.
