Wilbur A. Bahre, 89 of Topeka died April 13, 2014 at his home, Lexington Park. He was born January 19, 1925 in Moundridge, Kansas one of six children of Fred and Anna (Hoyer) Bahre. Wilbur was an Army WW II Veteran. Upon arriving home from serving his country he began working for Southwestern Bell where he held various positions retiring after 39 years as Network Supervisor. He was a charter member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Wilbur's favorite things were listening to country music, watching movies and following the K.C. Royals. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing. Wilbur married Lucille E. Haslouer on August 14, 1948 in Abilene, KS. She preceded him in death on August 22, 2005. Survivors include: two sons, Ronald and Danny Bahre both of Topeka, three daughters, Marcia Stambaugh and Janice Shields both of Topeka and Annette Brink of Omaha, NE, 6 Grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
