Jason Glen Smoot, 37, of Topeka, died April 6, 2014. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on July 1, 1976 the son of Randy Glen and Robin E. (Bagby) Smoot. Jason worked for the Construction Union for Rylie Equipment and had previously worked at Waste Management and for Hamm's Quarry. He was an auto and motorcycle racing enthusiast, and enjoyed hunting, cooking, barbeque and meat smoking. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Construction Union Local #1290. Jason married Lorrie A. Williams in Topeka on July 30, 2005. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Joshua Smoot, his mother, Robin Smoot, a brother, Michael "Mikey" Smoot all of Topeka and his grandmother, Phyllis Bagby of Overbrook, Ks. as well as many friends. Jason was predeceased by his father, Randy "Smootie" Smoot on January 1, 2008. Jason will lie in state at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 312 Freeman, on Thursday after 4:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow in Twin Mound Cemetery in rural Douglas County.
