Lynn "Curt" Conner, 70, of Topeka, died March 19, 2014 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. He was born on October 25, 1943 in Edgewood, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Beulah (Martin) Conner. Curt served in the United States Air Force for 23 years and worked as an Inventory Management Supervisor and also as a jet engine mechanic. He received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. After the Air Force, he worked for the State of Kansas taking care of building maintenance. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1650 of the V.F.W. Curt was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and was known as "Chico" to his friends and relatives in Iowa. He met Martha "Marty" Negrete at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka. They were married on June 4, 1966 in Topeka. She survives. He is also survived by a sister Corinne Bolsinger of Guttenburg, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings; Lyle Conner, Leland Conner, Larry Conner, and Winifred "Joyce" Rieck. Curt will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Parish Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Garden Cemetery with military honors provided by the Whiteman Air Force Base Honor Guard.
