Frances L. "Phronsie" Barber, 97, of Topeka, died March 13, 2014 at the House at Midland Care. She was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on April 10, 1916 the daughter of Charles and Mabel (Breese) Jacob. Phronsie was a graduate of Oberlin College and worked for several years as a children's librarian. In 1945, she married Richard Barber with whom she shared 67 years of marriage prior to his death in 2012. She was an avid reader and loved gardening and playing bridge. Friends and loved ones will always remember her smile and infectious laughter. Her hallmark saying, "It's all in the attitude," serves as a legacy to all who encountered her. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a longtime resident of Brewster Place. Phronsie is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and Janet. She will lie in state at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church where friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
