Louise Schreiber, 92, of Topeka, died March 10, 2014 at Brookside Retirement Center in Overbrook. She was born in Topeka, Kansas on February 2, 1922 the daughter of Ignatius and Mary (Gabel) Haberkorn. She attended Topeka High School and was a volunteer at Let's Help and the Election Board. Louise enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, sewing all types of crafts, garage sales, and camping at Melvern Lake. She was a member of Mater Dei Assumption Catholic Church. She married Norman C. Schreiber on February 5, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Topeka. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2003. Other survivors include her sons; Jerald M. (Cathy) Schreiber of Overbrook, and Lawrence N. (Wanda) Schreiber of Holton, a daughter Theresa A. (Bill) Kelly of Independence, Kansas, a brother Bob Haberkorn and a sister Odelia "Dee" Mick both of Topeka, 9 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Louise was also preceded in death by her sisters; Catherine Dluhy, Betty Broxterman, Alvina Haberkorn, Leona Schoenfeldt. Louise will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 4:00 p.m. where the family will greet friends until 7:00 p.m. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Mater Dei Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
