Jean Carmen Jaimez, also known as "Juan", "John" or "Johnny", 86, of Topeka, died December 24, 2013 at the House at Midland Care surrounded by his family. He was born in Alma, Kansas on June 14, 1927 the son of Eufracio and Rosa (Galvan) Jaimez. He was retired from Ben Schreiner Construction Company. Jean "John" was a member of Mater Dei Assumption Parish. He was a drummer, loved music, and also enjoyed playing horseshoes and traveling. He married Mary Rowe in Edwardsville on March 22, 1966. She survives of the home. Other survivors include their sons; Gene Jaimez of Lawrence, Peter Jaimez of Lawrence, Michael Jaimez of Hoyt, Daniel Jaimez of Lawrence, Samuel Jaimez of Lawrence, Thomas Jaimez of Lawrence, Andrew Jaimez of Coffeyville, Ks., and Allen Jaimez of Topeka, a sister, Georgia Broadwell of Coffeyville, Ks., three brothers, Pete James of Lawrence, and Edward and Alexander Jaimez of Coffeyville, eighteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Jaimez in November of 2011, a daughter Christina Marie Behrns in 2009, two brothers, Santos and Bernard Jaimez and a sister, Angela Mendoza. Jean "John" will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Friday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Mater Dei Assumption Catholic Church.
