Mary C. (Horgan) Knight, 86, of Topeka passed away December 9, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. She was born November 27, 1927 in Wheaton, KS the daughter of Martin V. and Teresa (Bennett) Horgan. Mary grew up in the Blaine, KS community and graduated from Blaine Rural High School. She moved to Topeka and worked at Meadow Gold Milk, Co. where she met her husband Wayne Knight. They were married November 19, 1955 at St. Columbkilles Church in Blaine. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Robert Knight (Sue Martin) of Osawatomie, Richard Knight of Topeka, five sisters, Rosella Mallon of Manhattan, Carmaleta Drum of Topeka, Bernedette Hecker of Topeka, Ruby Lewis of Iola, Cheryl Randal of Scraton and a brother, Mike Horgan of Celina, TX. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Horgan, June Knox and a brother Leo Horgan. She will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Topeka Rescue Mission, Northeastern Kansas Alzheimer's Association or the Sacred Heart/St. Joseph Parish.
