Rylie Nicole Carlson, 16, of Topeka, died November 24, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 18, 1997 the daughter of Gregory James Carlson and Lori Kathleen Solander. Rylie was a student at Shawnee Heights and loved attending school. She enjoyed music, swimming, balloons, and especially spending time with her family. She had a sweet spirit and beautiful smile that she kept even as she faced numerous physical and health challenges. Most of all she will be remembered for her contagious laugh and smile. Rylie is survived by her parents, Gregory Carlson and Lori Solander, a brother, Taylor Slavens, two sisters, Ava and Mia Carlson, and her grandmother, Deanne Brady. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Joyce and Michael Solander, and Robert Carlson. She is also survived by several special aunts, uncles and cousins. Rylie will lie in state at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon where her family will receive friends. Services will be at 12:00 noon at the funeral home with a balloon release to follow. Cremation will take place after the service.
