Thressa Darlene Menefee, 49, Los Angeles, California, and formerly of Topeka, departed this life on November 5, 2013, at Santa Monica UCLA. She was born March 29, 1964 in Topeka, Kansas the youngest daughter of Beverly Menefee and Claudette Menefee. She was a 1982 graduate of Highland Park High School. In 1987 she received a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing from Washburn University. She was employed at Aetna for 25 years as a Senior Account Manager and was the recipient of several performance awards acknowledging her excellent service. She was a parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in California. Thressa will be remembered for her positive outlook and zest for life. She traveled extensively around the world, enjoyed Zumba, Hip Hop, and watching reality and television dramas with her nephew. The Los Angeles Laker and Chicago Bulls didn't have a more passionate fan. Her talents ranged from being hailed as the "family handy woman" to culinary artist - displayed in the gourmet meals she lovingly prepared for her brother and nephew every Sunday and holiday meals for her family. She was professionally respected as a highly skilled writer and communicator. A virtuous woman, Thressa was known for her kindness and generosity towards family, friends and charities. She was preceded in death by her father, Beverly Menefee of Topeka, Kansas. She leaves to mourn her passing a loving and devoted mother Claudette Menefee of Topeka, two sisters, Felicia Menefee of Grandview, Missouri and Angela Menefee of Austin, Texas, a brother Michael Menefee of Los Angeles, California, nephew Keith Morris of Chicago, Illinois, niece Kristina Morris of Grandview, Missouri, great nieces and nephew, Kyla, Mya, Caleb and Khloe of Grandview, Missouri, along with a host of family, close friends and co-workers. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
