Hortencia Alfaro-Avila

Hortencia "Dolores" Alfaro-Avila, 48, of Topeka, died October 31, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in El Colecio, Mexico on June 7, 1965 the daughter of Leonardo and Esperanza (Lopez) Avila. Dolores was a Q-A Technician at Reser's Foods. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Dolores enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking. She will be especially remembered for her love of her family and always made time to travel to Mexico to see her extended family. She married Candido "Candy" Alfaro in El Colecio, Mexico on January 27, 1989. He survives. They have three daughters, Adriana, Paola and Cindy Alfaro-Avila all of the home. Dolores is also survived by her parents, Leonardo and Esperanza Avila of Mexico, and her siblings, Rosa Alfaro-Avila of Topeka, Virginia Avila of Mexico, and Pedro, Jose and Ramon Avila all of Topeka. She was preceded in death by a brother Roberto Avila. Dolores will lie in state on Sunday after 2:00 p.m. at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
