Marilyn Ann (Miller) Meiners, died October 17, 2013 at her home. She was born April 4, 1922 in Leavenworth, Kansas the daughter of Louis Albert and Mary Louise "Mayme" (Falk) Miller. Marilyn graduated from elementary and Immaculata High School in Leavenworth and received a BS degree from Saint Mary College. She spent a year of dietetic internship in the Cincinnati Ohio Good Samaritan Hospital. In 1969 she received a Master's degree in Education from Washburn University in Topeka. She worked at St. Luke Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. as a clinical and administrative dietitian; at Eisenhower Veteran's Hospital in Leavenworth, and part time dietitian at Cushing Memorial Hospital in Leavenworth. She taught school for fifteen years in Leavenworth, Silver Lake and at Topeka #501 districts. Most recently she has been a Page Mother at the House of Representatives in Topeka for five years and a substitute teacher for the 501 School district for 20 years. Marilyn was a member of the American Dietetic Association for over 50 years, a member of the National Education Association, Saint Mary College Alumnae, Women's Club at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Shawnee Country Club and the Good Sam Camping Club. She was a member of the former Spalding Reading Circle and was an avid bridge player. She was also known for her extensive volunteerism for many organizations. She married Henry J. Meiners on May 1, 1947 in Leavenworth. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2008 and a daughter, Jill Ann preceded her in death in 1953. Survivors include her three sons, James H. Meiners of California, David H. (Carol Berg) Meiners of Lawrence, Kansas, and John H. Meiners (Kathleen Brewer) of Boulder, Colorado. Also surviving are granddaughters, Joan Marie and Anna Louise and grandson, Noah, step grandchildren, Amanda and Jennifer Berg, step great grandchildren, Orion Young, Isiah Davis, Peyton Berg, and a sister Jane Foris. Marilyn donated her body for research at the University of Kansas Medical Center. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Pure Heat of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2013. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the Mass.
