Eva Virginia "Evie" McVay, 86, of Topeka, died October 4, 2013 at Brewster Place. She was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 20, 1927 the daughter of Burton Charles and Eva Ann (Bernhardt) Sanderson. Evie was a 1945 graduate of Capitol Catholic High School. Evie was a homemaker. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and helped in the kitchen and was a member of the Altar Society. Evie married Albert Charles "Al" McVay at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on June 17, 1946. He survives. She is also survived by six children, Nancy Huske of Silver Lake, Ks., Terry (Judy) McVay, Karen (Larry) Zishka, Jeanine Thill, Roger (Laura) McVay, and Julie (Kevin) Strole all of Topeka, 14 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a brother, Jerry (Cathy) Sanderson of Roeland Park, Ks., and a sister, Carol Reese of Flower Mound, TX. She was predeceased by a brother Chuck Sanderson. Evie will lie in state at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday after 4:00 p.m. where an Altar Society Rosary will be prayed 5:00p.m., and a Parish Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Cremation will follow with inurnment later at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
