Jose A. Franco, 91, of Topeka, died September 21, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. He was born on April 15, 1922 in Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Jose H. and Refugio (Yanez) Franco. Jose was a boilermaker for the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring with over thirty years of service. After his retirement, Jose was an award winning auto salesman for John Hoffer and several other auto dealerships in Topeka. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, enjoyed traveling and watching television. Jose helped with Little League Baseball and was involved with the Mexican community where he coordinated dances and music. Jose married Victoria Morales on June 4, 1949 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She survives at the home. He is also survived by four children, Robert J. (Lynn) Franco of Parkville, MO, Yolanda (Charlie) Crupper of Colorado Springs, CO, Joseph Franco Jr., of Minneapolis, MN and Vicki Annette Franco of Mankato, MN. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Wendy Crupper, Charles Crupper III, Ashley Franco and Tyler J. Fitzpatrick. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Jose will lie in state at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will greet friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Cremation will follow.
