Marvel June Cochran

Marvel June Cochran, 89, of Topeka, died September 6, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. She was born in Smith Center, Kansas on April 17, 1924 the daughter of Marvin and Mazie (Noel) Hays. Marvel was retired from the Kansas Department of Transportation where she was a Procurement Officer with 35 years of service. She was a member of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed needlepoint, fishing, bird watching, loved the outdoors and was an avid sports fan especially watching football. Marvel was a former member of the American Business Women's Association. She married Caleb Lynn Cochran in Smith Center, Kansas on February 5, 1943. He preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by a son, Calvin Thomas, her parents and a brother. Marvel is survived by her son, Jim Cochran and his wife LeAnn of Topeka and a grandson, Garrett Cochran and his wife Tammy also of Topeka. Marvel will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m.at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Rochester Cemetery.
