Sylvia Agnes (Beier) Weichold, 74, of Topeka, died August 30, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. She was born in Topeka, Kansas on April 10, 1939 the daughter of Victor P. and Genevieve H. (Stadler) Beier. Sylvia was a Communication Technician for Southwestern Bell Telephone until her retirement in 1999 after 43 years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph/Sacred Heart Parish where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Altar Society. Sylvia was a member of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Pioneers and the Ladies of the Moose. She was the heart and soul of the VITA Tax Program where she was recognized by the President in Washington DC and presented an award for her tireless efforts. Sylvia married Dean Richard Weichold on July 10, 1976 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Topeka. He survives. She is also survived by a daughter Angela (Scott) Ronsse of Topeka and a step-son, James W. (Catherine) Weichold of Gainesville, FL, her grandchildren, Marie (Stephen) Christ, Beth (Anthony) Ortega, Sarah Weichold, Tyler and Brandon Ronsse. Sylvia is survived by her brothers, Victor A. (Phyllis) Beier, Lawrence J. (Joanne) Beier , Stephen A. (Cindy) Beier, and Dr. Charles G. (Nancy) Beier all of Topeka, Gregory J. Beier of Winston-Salem, NC, Daniel P. (Jean) Beier of Medina, OH and sisters, Genevieve Susie (Don) Keefer of Kansas City, MO, Jean Marie (Joe) Herman of Yoakum, TX and Loretta Jo (John) Beier-Sperry of Asheville, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Genevieve Beier and her son, Byron L. Ashworth. Sylvia will lie in state at St. Joseph Church on Monday where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. followed by an Altar Society Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
