Ivaloo D. "Smitty" Smith, 75, of Topeka, died August 24, 2013 at her home. She was born on June 3, 1938 in Osage County, Kansas, the daughter of William Sherman and Georgia (Harwood) Henry. Smitty worked as a nurse's aide for St. Francis in Pediatrics and later in the Transportation Department. Smitty was a 1956 graduate of Highland Park High School. She enjoyed fishing, helping people, and loved animals, especially dogs and cats. She married Elmer L. "Smitty" Smith on July 1, 1965 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2007. Smitty is survived by a niece Cindy Henry of Neodesha, Kansas, 4 nephews: Larry Miles of Carbondale, Kansas, Dwight York of Wamego, Kansas, Tom York of Wichita, Kansas, and Charles Henry of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and a brother in law Clarence E. Smith of Topeka. She was preceded in death by a nephew Douglas York, 2 brothers: Sherman Henry and Dudley York, and a sister, Arlene Miles. She will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. Family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery.
