Miller T. Campbell, 92, of Topeka, died July 28, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. He was a resident of Thornton Place where he was active in many social activities, especially exercising. He was born in Madison, Indiana on February 4, 1921 the son of William F. and Alice Ruth (Kolb) Campbell Sr. He was a 1940 graduate of Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Kentucky and received his degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky in 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in World War II in North Africa and Italy. Miller and all three of his brothers served in the armed forces during World War II. Mr. Campbell was a Senior Civil Engineer for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was a charter member of Christ the King Catholic Church and served on the building committee, a member of Knights of Columbus Council #534, Goodyear Leisure Club, Washburn Walkers and Health-Wise 55. He was also a life member of Philip Billard Post #1650 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a volunteer for St. Francis Hospital. Miller was a member of the University of Kentucky Alumni and was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan. He will be most remembered for the way his grandchildren and great grandchildren loved and admired him. He married Veronica S. Scanlon in Lexington, Kentucky on October 27, 1945. She preceded him in death on May 26, 2008. He was a devoted husband and during her illness he was a very loving and dedicated care giver for his wife. He is survived by a son Michael Joseph (Tonya) Campbell of Topeka, three daughters, Alice Patricia (Ron) Marshall of Topeka, Mary Margaret (Randy) Anspaugh of Overland Park, Ks. and Joyce Anne (Ray) Cunningham of Akron, Ohio, twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, Hugh K., William F. and Arthur R. Campbell. Miller will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Thursday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. He will lie in state at Christ the King Church from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at Christ the King Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment with military honors provided by Philip Billard Post #1650 will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
