Jimmy Dean Stephenson, 80, of Topeka, passed away on July 25, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born on October 26, 1932 in Osage City, the son of Thomas and Laura Martin Stephenson. He was employed by the Supply Depot, Convair, missile sites, and then by the City of Topeka as a foreman for the water department where he worked for 32 years retiring in 1994. Jimmy loved fishing, playing bingo, going to the casino, doing word search puzzles, watching tv, watching the squirrels and eating, especially desserts. He will be most remembered for his love of his family and spending time with his grandchildren. Jimmy married Lorene Dlugosh on March 6, 1954 in Lyndon, KS. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Scott Stephenson (Debbie) of Scranton, a daughter, Kelly Lyda of Topeka, and four grandchildren, Brittany Moranz (Ryan), Lakyn Stephenson, Leslie Lyda, and Cody Lyda, and a great grandson, Teagan Moranz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Laura Stephenson, and two brothers, Robert and Billy Stephenson. He will lie in state at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday, July 28 after 2:00p.m. where the family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Graveside services and Interment will follow in American Cemetery in Osage City.
