Louis Andre Demers, 75, of Topeka, died January 11, 2013 at the Community Living Center of Colmery O?Neil V.A. Medical Center. Louis was born January 1, 1938 in Manchester, New Hampshire, the son of Donat A. and Simonne (Cote) Demers. He served in the United States Army as a military police for seven years during the Vietnam era. Mr. Demers received his Bachelors of Arts degree from Washburn University in 1971. He worked as a Licensed Mental Health Technician for Menninger?s. He was a very devout Roman Catholic. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1, and the Disabled American Veterans Post #3 in Topeka. Survivors include one brother, Edmond (Cecile) Demers of Hernando, Florida, four sisters, Lucille (Jean) Laflame, Doris (Thomas) Kelly, both of Manchester, New Hampshire, Elaine (Bill) Lefebvre of Raymond, New Hampshire, and Suzanne (Bruce) Solloway of St. Augustine, Florida, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date in New Hampshire, with an inurnment graveside service to be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
