Robert R. "Bob" Lewis, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving friends and family at Stormont-Vail Hospital on January 6, 2013 He was born October 28, 1938 in Pratt, KS the son of T. Ray and Ethel (Benton) Lewis. Bob retired after 25 years as Audit Manager with the Department of Revenue for the State of Kansas. He previously was an Internal Auditor for Research and St. Joseph Health Centers in Kansas City, MO and was the Administrator for the Gardner Hospital in Gardner, KS. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, the Breakfast and Downtown Optimist Clubs and the Northeast Kansas Parkinson Association. He volunteered at TPAC, the Civic Theater and the Discovery Center. While living in Wichita he was member of the Knights of Columbus and the Jaycees. Bob married Sharon Ferderer on January 20, 1962 at St. Anthony?s Catholic Church in Wichita. She survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Tami Boten (Jim Zeferjahn) of Topeka and Michelle Gangel (Greg) of Olathe, a brother, George Lewis (Brenda) of Alexandria, VA and a sister Carol Ann Lewis of Wichita. Five grandchildren, Brooke, Madison, Evan, Logan (Alisa) and Shelby along with three great grandchildren, Jewels, Ryan and Taylor also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Patrick Dean Lewis. Bob will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Cremation will follow. Inurnment will be at a later date in Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Bob?s memory may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church or to the Northeast Kansas Parkinson?s Association, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
