Eleodoro J. "LoLo" Ortiz, 87, of Topeka, died December 28, 2012 at his home. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on July 1, 1925 the son of Jose and Graciana (Llamas) Ortiz. LoLo was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II with the 179th Infantry Regiment. He was a life member of the American Legion Capitol Post #1. He was awarded 3 Bronze Service Stars. He was an X-Ray Technician for the State of Kansas and worked for the Department of Vital Statistics for 35 years. He had a passion for his family and the great outdoors. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. LoLo enjoyed fishing, hunting and photography. Survivors include his son, Stephen R. Ortiz and wife Dolores of Lawrence, two grandchildren, Stephen E. (Jackie) Ortiz and Dominic R. (Tamara Stanley) Ortiz both of Lawrence and his siblings, Emily (Francisco "Jimmy") Florez of Topeka, Natalia (Pete) Rodriuez of Wichita, Gonzalo Ortiz, Monica Rodriguez, Isabel (Paul) Valdivia and Benito (Darlene) Ortiz all of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Joe, Pete, Little Monica, Cennon, Richard and Ramon. Mr. Ortiz will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post #410 WeTaSe.
