Michael E. "Scottie" Scott, 39, of Lawrence, formerly of Topeka, died December 7, 2012 at his home. He was born August 6, 1973 in Sioux City, IA, the son of JoEllen (Scott) Holthaus. Michael attended Washburn University where he was very active in theater and most recently was active in a production for EMU in Lawrence. He was member of the Masonic Lodge and was an avid KU fan. He considered his friends as family and was very proud of his Norwegian Heritage, "Uff Da!" Michael married Chaundra L. Gardner on October 13, 2007 in Topeka. She survives. He is also survived by his mother, JoEllen Holthaus and his step-father, Donald of Topeka, a foster-son, Ollie of Lawrence. Other survivors include his brothers Eric and Matt Holthaus, a sister, Jennifer Rhoads, a foster brother, Bruce Brewer, all of Topeka. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive. Michael was cremated. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 11:00a.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 725 SW Buchanan, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
