Kenneth "Ken/Kenny" Carl Qualls, 76, of Topeka, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2012 at St. Francis Health Center surrounded by his family. He was born in Pryor, Oklahoma on April 16, 1936 the son of Carl and Goldie (Pippins) Qualls. Kenneth was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving from 1955 to 1963. He worked in the heating and air conditioning industry for Dreher?s Inc. and McElroy?s prior to owning and operating Ken?s Heating and Cooling until his retirement. Kenneth was a former member of South Knollwood Baptist Church, and a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union and Philip Billard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1650. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, coin collecting, gardening, bird watching and spending time with his family. Kenneth married Marolyn L. Yordy in Salina, Kansas on June 19, 1960. He is survived by his former wife Marolyn Qualls, their three daughters, Kimberly Kaye Qualls of Topeka, Kristy Lynn (Greg) Hiebert of Auburn, and Kelli Qualls of Topeka, four grandchildren, Brady Qualls, Amanda, Jesse and Carter Hiebert. He is also survived by his siblings, Helen Irene Smith, Jackie Qualls, and Mary Sue Qualls all of Pryor, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three siblings, Mildred, O.E. and Joe Qualls. Kenneth will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 4th, after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 5th, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services with military honors conducted by Philip Billard VFW Post #1650 will be in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery.
