Lela M. Reb, 85, of Topeka, died November 12, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Topeka, Kansas on April 11, 1927 the daughter of Bert F. and Myrtle (Cass) Briggs. Lela was a homemaker and had worked as a book binder for Adam?s Brothers. She enjoyed embroidery, quilting, gardening, and cake decorating. Lela made quilts for all church socials and for her family. She was attentive to her husband?s diet and took up canning so she could prepare salt free foods for him. Lela was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Altar Society at the church, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Lela married John J. Reb at the Church of the Assumption on November 27, 1952. He survives her. She is also survived by her children, John A. Reb and wife Georgette and Patricia Thomas and husband Chuck and a daughter-in-law Kathy Reb. She has six grandchildren, Joey (Jamie) Peralta, Tammy (Kris) Carlson, Anna Reb, Michael Reb, Angela (A.J.) Stevens and Samuel Moore and three great grandchildren, Emily Reb, Hailey Peralta and Chloe Peralta. Lela has two brothers, Richard (Lucile) Briggs of Everett, Washington, and Larry (Rachella) Briggs of Topeka and was preceded in death by a son Michael Reb on July 4, 2010 and by seven siblings. Lela will lie in state at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday after 4:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. and an Altar Society Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
