Larry Ortiz

Larry Ortiz, 73 of Topeka, died November 9, 2012, at the home of his son, in Olathe, KS. He was born in Topeka, KS on September 15, 1939, the son of Domingo and Joaquina (Ortiz) Ortiz. Larry served in the US Marine Corp and the US Army Reserves. He retired from K.N.I. after 40 years of service. He married Laura Marie Misegadis in Topeka. She preceded him in death on March 7, 1987. He is survived by his son, Jeff Ortiz and wife Tessa of Olathe, three brothers, Cato Ortiz of Plant City, FL, Juan Ortiz and wife Auda of El Paso, TX, Felipe Ortiz of Topeka, and one sister, Marcelina Ortiz-Juarez and one half-sister, Rachelle R. Vega-Munoz, both of Topeka. Two granddaughters, Erin and Embry along with many nieces and nephews also survive. Larry will lie in state at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
