Ashley Marie (Bacon) Alcala

Ashley Marie (Bacon) Alcala, 34 of Topeka, died Thursday, October 18, 2012. She was born July 7, 1978 in Topeka, the daughter of Karren M. Bacon. Ashley was a Social Worker, (LMSW), at Stormont-Vail Health Care and was owner of Alcala Counseling Services. She formerly worked for Social Security Disability at the state and federal level and at Safe Streets where she did a lot of mentoring with children. She received her B.S in Journalism and Photography from Missouri Western University and then earned a Master?s Degree from Washburn University with high honors in social work. Ashley was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and was an avid photographer. Ashley will be most remembered as a caring and loving mother. Ashley is survived by her mother, a maternal grandmother and two children. Many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Ashley will lie in state after 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012 at St. Matthew Catholic Church where a Parish Vigil Service will begin at 6:00 p.m. No funeral services are planned. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Ashley?s memory may be made to the Ashley Marie(Bacon) Alcala Children?s Trust Fund and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
