Benedict L. "Ben" Rohleder, 90, of Topeka, died September 22, 2012 at the Topeka Presbyterian Manor. He was born in St. Peter, Kansas on August 21, 1922 the son of Conrad and Catherine (Brungardt) Rohleder. Ben served in the U.S. Army during World War II with tours in China, Burma and India. He was a Skilled Machine Operator for Adam?s Business Forms, retiring in 1987. He was also a farmer and had Arabian horses which he enjoyed raising, training and taking on trail rides. Ben was an avid reader. He was a member of St. Joseph/Sacred Heart Parish and Knights of Columbus Council #2608. Ben married Magdalen M. Schurrr in Oakley, Kansas on January 7, 1946. She survives. He is also survived his children, Ron Rohleder and wife Betsy of Topeka, Mary Jo Rinehart of Topeka and John Rohleder of Wichita, brothers Leonard Rohleder of Hays, Ks., Cletus Rohleder of Phoeniz, Az., a sister Genevieve "Jenny" Bellerive of Hays, Ks., and three grandchildren, Brent, Jason and Justin Rinehart. Mr. Rohleder will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, where family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A parish rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., Thursday. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph/Sacred Heart Parish and sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 S.W. 6th Ave. Topeka, Kansas 66603
