Irene Halleron, 85, of Topeka, died September 15, 2012 at Brewster Place. Irene was born on June 17, 1927 in rural Brown County, the daughter of Chris and Martha Tollefson. She graduated from Willis High School, served our country in the US Navy and was employed by the AT & SF Railroad for 40 years before she retired. Irene was a member of the Mater Dei Parish and the Santa Fe Old Timers Club. Irene married Donald G. Halleron on May 3, 1968 in Shawnee, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1999. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. She is survived by three nephews, John and Jim Tinsley, Tim Tollefson and a niece, Joan Kuck, all of Topeka. Many other nieces and nephews survive. Irene will lie in state at after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
