Marquita C. Boyd

Marquita C. Boyd, 85, of Topeka, died September 3, 2012 at her home. She was born in Topeka, Kansas on June 8, 1927 the daughter of Otto and Agnes (Higgins) Kasten. She graduated in 1945 from Capitol Catholic High School. Marquita was a homemaker. She was a member of the Baptist faith. Marquita married Elmer W. Boyd in Oskaloosa, Kansas on July 4, 1948. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1990. She was also predeceased by a granddaughter. Survivors include a son, David Boyd of Topeka, two daughters, Diane Hussey of Baltimore, Maryland, and Victoria Drake of Cape Fair, Missouri, a brother, Vernon Kasten of Topeka, two sisters, Nadine Carter of Loveland, Colorado and Loralee Logan of Hays, Kansas, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Marquita will lie in state on Friday from 12:00 noon until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery.
