Natividad "Nettie" Duran, 91, of Topeka, was called to her heavenly home on June 12, 2013. She is preceded in death by her parents Jose Ventura and Concepcion Rocha Lopez and siblings Manuel, Gregory, Delores, Fidencia, Narcissa (Concha) Medrano, Oldeon, and a son-in-law, Pablo (Paul) Martinez, Sr. and a great-grandson, Andres Valdivia. She was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 15, 1921 the daughter of Jose and Concepcion (Rocha) Lopez. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Manuel "El Pingo" Duran and their children: Jose Manuel (Rose), Jesse Richard "Rico" (Mercy), Carmen Martinez, Cleo Parr (David), Rita Duran (Enrique), El Paso, TX., Susan and Theresa Renteria (Jose). Her 17 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren remember family get-togethers that centered around Nettie?s cooking and the love felt in her home. Nettie worked as a supervisor at Seymour Foods in Topeka for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Topeka Women?s Aglow Chapter and a volunteer in other agencies. Over 20 years ago the Lord healed Nettie of a hiatal hernia. Nettie?s testimony of her divine healing brought many relatives and others to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ as their savior. Nettie and Manuel lived in Topeka until they retired in 1982 and moved to El Paso, TX. They returned to Topeka in 2012 to be near their children, and enjoy their grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Nettie will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. We will have a celebration of life on Monday June 17, at 10:00 a.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66603. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 801 SW Westchester Rd. The family would like everyone to wear bright colors.
