Leonard W. Cullison, 85, of Topeka, died June 8, 2013 at the House at Midland Care. He was born in Decatur County, Kansas on November 5, 1927 to James F. and Elva Jane Hanslip. He was raised by his grandmother, Alice Cullison. Leonard was a veteran of the Navy serving in WWII. He was a graduate of Ft. Hays State with a degree in Business Administration. Mr. Cullison was an Assistant Administrator for Sisters of Mercy Hospital in Ft. Scott prior to moving to Topeka. He retired on July 1, 1993 as a Business Administrator for the Kansas Department of Corrections. Leonard was an avid reader who especially loved History and Westerns. He enjoyed golfing, was a Master Gardner and a diehard KU fan. He also loved being PaPa to his grandchildren. He married Laurine Leiker in Hays, KS on April 5, 1951. She preceded him in death on June 5th of this year. He is survived by a daughter, Vicki Cullison of Topeka, two sons, Mark Cullison of Ft. Scott, and Curtis (Annette) Cullison of Hendersonville, TN, two grandchildren, Macy Rose Cullison and Colby Cullison and a brother, Wayne Hanslip of Denver, CO. A combined Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on 4:00 pm. Tuesday at Mater Dei Assumption Catholic Church. They will lie in state Tuesday following Mass at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home after 6:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends until 8:00 p.m. They will lie in state Wednesday at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W Wall Street in Ft. Scott after 12:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends until 2:00 pm. Graveside services for Mr. & Mrs. Cullison will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Ft. Scott National Cemetery.
