Pedro "Peter" Valdivia, 83, of Topeka, died Monday, May 27, 2013 at the Alma Manor. He was born in Topeka, KS on April 29, 1930 the son of Ismael and Simona (Silva) Valdivia. Pedro was a US Navy inner fleet boxing champion serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He was married to Rita Pimentel Valdivia, she preceded him in death. Survivors include his four sons, Rene (Lynne) Valdivia of Oskaloosa, James (Amy) Valdivia, Donald Valdivia, Peter Thaddeus "Ted" (Cindi) Valdivia and a daughter, Laurie (Rene) Vega all of Topeka. He is also survived by four sisters, Virginia Ramos of Omaha, NE, Teresa Adame, Mary Munoz, Becca Mendez and two brothers, Abel Valdivia and Andrew "Cokey" Valdivia all of Topeka. Ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Pedro?s children would like to say "Thank You" to Cokey for all the years of special care and support he gave to their father. Pedro will lie in state after 2:00 pm on Thursday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
